I am running for Missouri State Representative for the 39th District and I would like to introduce myself. My name is Richard (Rick) Mellon. I am running for State Representative because our State Legislature has been bending to the will of corporations and big money interests. I disagree with this! I will work to bring back the real meaning of our state motto, “Let the welfare of the people be the supreme law”. I am running on the issues of protecting public education, worker’s rights, and ethics and campaign reform.
Rick graduated from Lawson High School in 1973. After serving four years in the United States Air Force, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. Rick worked for 13 years in the retail grocery business and spent half of those years in management. He began his career with Ford Motor Company as a UAW member in 1994 and recently retired. While working at Ford, he and his family also raised cattle on their farm. Rick has been married to his wife Cindy for 36 years, who retired from the Lawson R-XIV School District after 31 years of teaching. They have a daughter Kelli, who passed away in 2008.
